Tiny Tuesday: Episode 2

Wouldn't you know it..I'm two weeks late.

With Tiny Tuesday that is. Not my period. I don't get those anymore. #iudforthewin

Last last Tuesday I was en route to Montana and had other priorities (like 8 hours of driving) and last Tuesday I had this purdy little post all ready to go and none of my pictures would load. SO. Third time's a charm!

Remember how I went to the first ever Tiny House Jamboree in Colorado Springs this summer and told you alllllllll about it?

Oh yeah, me neither. Cause I didn’t.

But four months after the fact seems like juuust the right time to fill you in.

I forgot how I found out about the THJ (Twitter maybe??), but the second I did I was hooked. And at the time I discovered the event, I was living in Colorado, so I was like ummmmm YES PLEASE. Then I moved to Wyoming and fucked that whole plan up. But I was still determined to go--and I did!

After a great and muuuuch needed mini-vacay to my second home of Nashvegas, I headed to the jamboree. Yes, I drove from Wyoming to Denver to fly to Nash to surprise a friend for her birthday and got surprised myself with tickets to see Shania Twain and spent the next three days either drinking or hungover. Then I flew back to Denver and drove to Colorado Springs for the jamboree!

It. Was. Awesome. I signed up to be a volunteer because that’s just what I do and it was crazy. We had sooo many people (40,000+) and so many things going on and I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to help here and there and everywhere. It was stressful and wack and I loved it. And hated it because I got sunburnt like a mofo. Lesson to all: gingers should not be kept in direct sunlight on asphalt for more than 20 seconds.

I also had the pleasure of listening to a couple of inspiring speakers and checked out some pretty sweet tiny homes. I’d never been in one before and it felt surreal. Like I was taking a step..literally.. to being even closer to making my own tiny house a reality. It felt possible and right and home-y.

I met some great people, saw some awesome things and just took it all in. Tiny homes are a rather new phenomenon and a crazy concept for the most part. But when you really get down to the nitty gritty of it, for me and the other 40,000 people that were there, there’s just simply no other way to live. I CANNOT WAIT to build my own tiny home and maybe I’ll be able to bring it to next year’s jamboree!!
