It Does(n't) Matter

Are you overwhelmed as hell?
Same here bro.
We live in a crazy world. Actually, I think the world's always been crazy, it just happens to be our turn to experience it first hand. Timelines and news feeds and posts are flooded with everything. Literally EV-ER-Y-THING. It's insane.
Never before in the history of history have we had to process so much information 24/7.
Never before in the history of history have we had access to all the information 24/7.
Never before in the history of history have we ever been this connected 24/7.
But we are now.
It's a lot for our minds and our eyes and our hearts to handle. On one little screen, we scroll through all the good and bad that could possibly exist in this world. The same place you read about a friend's promotion or cousin's wedding or neighbor's new kittens, is the same place you read about shootings and date rape drugs and political bullshit.
It's infuckingsane.
No wonder we're consumed with anxiety and worry and confusion all the time. No wonder we can't sit still or put down the phone or just effing chill for .2 seconds. No wonder we're constantly trying to change the world because all the negative shit is shoved down our throats like a dog who won't take his medication.
It's scary. It's overwhelming. And it does(n't) matter.
It does matter. Your thoughts. Your actions. You.
It doesn't matter. Likes. Shares. Negative comments.
Some people are very business oriented; driven my stats and numbers and figures and other shit I don't understand. Some people are not very business oriented; driven by positivity and hugs and laughter and other shit I totally understand. Well except for hugs. I'm still warming up to those.
And whichever way you look at it, social media is kind of like karaoke. You've got a platform to say whatever you want and lots of people are tuned in. Or tuned out. The thing about karaoke, whether it's good or bad, is that sometimes everyone is truly watching and listening to you. And sometimes they're just not. They're either waiting for you to hit that high note or fall of the stage. They secretly want to be up there or would literally shit themselves if their friends signed them up. It's thrilling and nerve-racking and over before you know it.
People are listening. People do care. But sometimes, nobody notices. Sometimes you get up there and you do your thing and the only sounds afterward are a few claps and the sound of the doors swinging shut. Other times you get a major round of applause and a shot of Fireball on the house. It's a mystery.
These last few weeks, I've noticed my eyes and inbox are overflowing with tips and tricks and a fuck ton of other social media savvy and I CAN'T FUCKING HANDLE IT. Seriously, y'all. I swear people have job titles now that are like 'Instagram Strategist' and 'Snapchat Exec' and 'Twitter Handle Handler'. It's bonkers.
And it's great. Some people/businesses really care about those things. To them it does matter.
To me it doesn't.
What matters to me is that I make people laugh. What matters it to me is that someone's day is made because of something I did. What matters to me is that I leave this world a little brighter than when I found it.
